Cape York fishing is among the best in the world. Our company has been operating personal sportfishing and hunting safaris on wild, remote Cape York Peninsula for the past 11 years. You'll catch everything from Barramundi to Bluefin Tuna whether you're fly fishing, trolling or bait casting. We are based in Bamaga, Cape York, 30 kms from the northernmost tip of Australia, and less than 10 kms to either Seisia or Jacky-Jacky boat ramp and just 100 kms from the renowned Skardon River. We not only fish all the rivers, swamps and lagoons that drain into these systems, but also the islands that surround Cape York itself and Torres Strait. We also fish the coral bommies and vast reefs that are part of the Great Barrier Reef off the Cape York coast Fish Species available are just as diverse as the areas where you can catch them. All the superstars are here including Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Saratoga, Fingermark, Salmon (Threadfin & Blue), Black Jew, Queenfish, Trevally (GT's, Golden, etc), Tuna (Macks & Bluefin), Mackerel (Spanish, Spotted & Shark), Queensland Groper, Estuary Cod, Coral Trout, Spangled Emperor, Nannygai, Javelin Fish, Coal Grunter, etc, etc, etc. There's something for everyone. If all you want to catch is a big barra - go to the Northern Territory BUT if you'd like to catch big barra AND at least 10 other tropical species then come fishing with us - Cape York will make you happy! Timing of your trip to Cape York is important. Lunar phases have a strong influence on species sought and the style and quality of the fishing . The quarters are better for pelagics, the full moon stirs up the Barra, while a new moon can shut down the Jacky - Jacky. We know, from experience, where to go for the best fishing according to all of the conditions at the time. For an ideal all-round fishing trip to Cape York, fishing between the first quarter and the full moon just after the wet or in the lead up to it generally produces the best results. August frequently brings our strongest winds but this isn't a problem, as we have the choice of either fishing the east or west coasts of Cape York. |
