The Barramundi is arguably Australia's most famous fish and the Northern Territory equally arguably is the best place in Australia for someone to catch their first Barra and that first Barra could be huge, that's one of the appeals of Barra fishing. The Northern Territory however is not only just the best place to catch a Barra, the NT and the waters around Darwin are also the home to exceptional Blue Water fishing but you do have to know where, how and when to go to be successful and importantly to be safe. That's were we come in, let us help you experience the best fishing of your life. If it's chasing Barra in Territory billabongs and tidal rivers, or the thrill of catching Black Jew Fish, Golden Snapper & Spanish Mackerel (to name only a few) on an offshore reef, we now have a tour to suit your fishing needs. Hey, why not make an extended Barra Fishing Tour at our remote camp that combines the ultimate of both fishing worlds. Our web site details all the tours we offer after Barra and other equally spectacular tropical species as well as information on the equipment we use. Check out the Photo Album to see some of the exceptional fishing you can expect when you book a fishing trip with Darwin Barra Fishing Tours. When the gallery is next updated it could have a picture of you and your fish of a lifetime! John Dagan has operated Darwin Barra Fishing tours since 1989. He is an accredited NT Fishing Tour Operator, licensed fishing tour operator and licensed Kakadu National Park Tour Operator. There are few waters that he has not fished around Darwin and he has also fished extensively in Queensland, the Gulf country and the Kimberly's. Early experience on cattle stations as a stockman has given John extensive bush skills and understanding of the country and it's wildlife. He has explored more of the country than many of us will ever see and offers clients the opportunity to not only catch great fish but to do it in spectacular locations or even in distant remote fishing camps that can only be experienced through an accredited guide. John owns operates and maintains only the best in vehicles, boats equipment used in supplying quality fishing charters to his customers. He has a personal policy of sustainable fishing that does not overwork any single fishing spot so each spot will still be holding fish ready to produce on the next visit. To do this he has an extensive itinerary of spots in each area he fishes. History proves that customers only benefit from this approach. Things Stay With You There are sights that happen every day somewhere in the Territory that will stay with you forever. Sharks in rivers hundreds of kilometres from the sea, crocodiles stalking wading birds, wading birds stalking fish, flying foxes squabbling in their daytime roosts, feral pigs rooting around, dingoes, the odd remaining wild buffalo. At sea turtles pop up at the back of your boat, schools of tuna and other pelagic's churn the surface of the sea. All of this as well as the beauty of the country, it's history and it's people. You will come for the fishing but you will remember it all and wonder why you didn't do it years ago. The Barramundi is arguably Australia's most famous fish and the Northern Territory equally arguably is the best place in Australia for someone to catch their first barra. Anyone who has ever watched and felt a silver slab of barra jump clear of the water with their lure hanging from it's mouth knows there is no fish like the barramundi. Fish of 20 pounds on the old scale are common and due to the conservation and management of the Northern Territory fishery many trophy fish over 40 pounds are caught every year. If you don't believe us check out our photo gallery. Many of the fish are attached to anglers who have never caught a barra before. Barra can be caught by trolling lures behind the boats (a proven big fish technique) or cast to in a huge variety of locations from tributaries that drain floodwaters from the wetlands to mangroves, rock bars or oyster encrusted headlands or reefs. Casting lures into snags and having it engulfed in an arm jarring strike followed by a cartwheeling Barra is one of fishings all time highs. We know the locations, when to fish them and the lures to use. Let our experienced team guide you to great fishing amongst spectacular scenery and wild life in the most productive river and estuarine systems available, like the waters of Kakadu, the Mary River, Shady Camp, Daly River and even into remote restricted access lands. Trips are available from 1 day to extended tours from 2 - 14 days. The specialised quality gear required for tropical sportsfishing is supplied which includes fishing tackle (on a replace if lost or damaged basis) accommodation, air conditioned vehicles and all meals supplied. Our boats are custom built for barra fishing, reliability, safety and angler comfort. |
