The Greenvale Sports and Game Fishing Club Inc. (GSGFC) was founded in July 1990, by local anglers in the north-western suburbs of Melbourne. The club's philosophy is to provide a club that caters for all aspects of fishing for adults, juniors and the disadvantaged people within our community. GSGFC is a family oriented club, which is conservation, aware and actively practices and promotes catch and release and tagging of species. It is affiliated with the Game Fishing Association of Victoria, which in itself affiliated with Australian Anglers Association (AAA). The club meets regularly on every first Wednesday of the month at the clubrooms in Section Road, Greenvale. Here members and guests share in the most current and up to date fishing reports, competition results, and are informed in the most current and up to date fishing issues, rules and regulations which concern recreational angler as a whole. The Club also organizes regular high profile guest speakers to talk to its members on area's or concern and interest. Tuition can be readily obtained from experienced members and guest speakers. Members also enjoy numerous benefits that are generously provided by its sponsors and supporters The club started with a hand full of members and now currently boasts a membership of 65 members, which includes 15 junior members under the age of 16 years, with a huge potential to grow more in the near future. The club conducts fishing competitions regularly for both adults and children as the club is family orientated. |
