Tumby Bay Island Fishing Charter - bagged out in 70 Minutes
Published on August 08, 2010 16:19
The King George Whiting were biting well and there was action a plenty on the Tumby Bay Fishing Charter.

We set out around 8.30 from the Tumby Bay marina and got to have a look at the Million Dollar Homes and impressive boats moored in-front of the lavish gardens.

The Cathy Jan is a great sized boat and handled the small swell with little rocking. Once we were out of the Bay and navigating past Tumby Island and around the reef well marked by the stick, David and Boyd had the kettle on and made the group and tea and coffee.

Passing between Winceby Island and Revesby Island, David took us out to his secret spot on the Eastern side of Revesby Island.

The rods and bait were quickly set up and Roger, Deen, Boyd and myself were eager to get the lines into the water.

Withing 30 seconds we all experienced the first thrill of a nibble, and moments later roger pulled in the first King George Whiting.

The next 70 minutes was a short memory, as we welcomed many whiting onto the Cathy Jan. Only stopping to measure a couple of small whiting, and obviously all measuring the biggest to take home the bragging rights. I won the day with a very good looking 45 cm King George Whiting.

We had to stop fishing to take count of our catch, with the limit being 10 whiting per person on a fishing charter. Just as Deen caught another whiting which had to be thrown back.

Snook was next on the list and David pulled up the anchor and we started cruising along the coast at about 4 knots. We motored for about 50 metres once the lines were out and Roger started pulling in the line with a 65cm fat snook. David set Cathy Jan's auto pilot to continue doing a large circle around the school of snook. Again it was only about 20 minutes and we had 9 good sized snook, ready to make some tasty fish patties.

All in all it was a fantastic days fishing. Highly recommend David and the Tumby Bay Fishing Charter. See our gallery for video footage. The King George Whiting were biting well and there was action a plenty on the Tumby Bay Fishing Charter.
